Cape Fraser Content

The short version

From languages to leadership

It started with languages. A degree in Modern and Medieval Languages at Cambridge took me to the German Foreign Office, translating diplomatic papers, and to the European Parliament, watching interpreters do the impossible in real time. I came back for an MPhil in Literature, and later, in my spare time, studied the legal side of publishing (media law, defamation and public affairs) through the NCTJ.

Then came ten years in Southeast Asia, working across Singapore, Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam and India. I led communications for a healthtech start-up, created branded content for CNBC's global clients, and ran global communications for an international investment group, from electric aircraft to private hospitals.

Most recently I was Director of Internal Communications for Europe at Oliver Wyman, writing for its European leadership across eight markets and 19 offices.

Now I work independently with leaders across Europe, Asia and the US.

Highlights

A few things I'm proud of

  • Helping tell the story of an all-electric aircraft, and contributing to an order book worth more than $2bn.
  • Ghostwritten thought leadership for the C-suite of a top-tier global management consultancy.
  • Speechwriting for healthcare leaders at major events in Vietnam.
  • Editing Social Investor, impact investing's one-of-a-kind glossy, read as far as the White House. Billed as "equal parts Vanity Fair and Foreign Affairs", its pages ranged from Trevor Noah and George Clooney to Mo Ibrahim, Matt Damon and Nobel laureates Abhijit Banerjee and Esther Duflo.

For you

What that means for you

I've worked in-house, in media and in investment, so I know what your comms team needs, what an editor will cut and what an investor will notice.

I've written for audiences on four continents, in sectors from aviation to healthcare to finance. And I've spent enough time around senior leaders to know that the best line in the room is rarely the one in the deck.

The name

Why Cape Fraser?

The business was born on a stretch of coastline at the southern tip of Africa, and I wanted the name to carry an echo of that view. Fraser is a family nod.

But Cape Fraser isn't on any map. It travels with me, wherever the writing happens: a quiet headland with a clear view, where ideas have room to breathe and the right words eventually turn up. It's my happy place, and the aim of every piece I write is to bring a little of that clarity back for you.

Beyond the desk

Jane Austen loyalist. Serial expat. Recovering perfectionist. Cannot be trusted around cheese. Frequently cold and muddy on a mountainside, and calling it fun. Always delighted by a dog on a Zoom call.
